Google introduced Google Penguin 2.0 a couple of days ago to the public. Matt Cutts explained in an overview what we can expect in the next few months. Now what can we expect and what are the things we should be afraid of this Google update. In this article, I will tell you about some key elements and what you can do to prevent getting hurt now and in the future.
Google Penguin 2.0 – The Keys
Matt Cutts explained in his video several things that are covered in Google Penguin 2.o. Here I have an overview:
- Improvements in the webspam algorithm
- Better detecting Black Huts techniques
- Better detecting Hackers and provide Webmasters with more help and information
- Help the small business owner to rank better
- Better ranking for high-quality content
Google Penguin 2.0 – Why Is It Necessary?
Over the years Google realized that great many SEO guys are misusing Google to drive traffic to their websites with techniques that are spamming the whole Internet. The idea of Google is that natural link building should be rewarded. As you can imagine, it is not an easy thing to find out what is really spam and what is natural.
Over the last few years and months, Google has refined its techniques to improve the algorithm to distinguish between spam and natural link building. With every update of these Google animals (Panda and Penguin), they got better at refining the algorithm.

Google Penguin 2.0 – What Can We Do?
In his video, Matt Cutts said what the key things are of this Google Penguin 2.0. There are several things every website owner can do:
First: Create quality content.
The better quality your content is and the more people are interested in what you write about the better will your ranking be. You have to see it from the side of the person who is searching for something in Google. When someone is searching in Google, he or she expects from Google that the best matching content to the search and the best quality for the topic is on page one. So the better Google does this job the better the person who searches is satisfied.
Second: Link building should be natural.
Google expects that backlinks are built in a natural way. What does this mean? For example: when you buy on Fiverr 10,000 backlinks overnight then Google looks at this as spam and won't count your backlinks. But when you do an article submission over a long time, for example over 30 days or so, then it looks more natural even when you use software to do this.
Third: Social engagement.
Google likes social engagement. When people on Facebook, Twitter, like your content then it looks to Google as a great article and therefore it should rank better. With Google Penguin 2.0 the social element will have more influence on the ranking than before.
Google Penguin 2.0 – My Overall Thought
I think with the three things I listed above you will have a good foundation to be on the winner side of this update. There are still some other things you can do but be aware that Google wants that everything you do to improve your ranking should look natural. With this Google Penguin 2.0 update, it is definitely time to say goodbye to black hut techniques.
