Email Marketing
Reading Time: 4 minutes

Marketing your business is a big job. You need to have techniques and methods that allow you to target your customers and clients in a way that fires them up for what you have to offer. Email marketing can be an excellent tool for your marketing strategy if you know how to use it. Here are some good tips to get you going.

Think above the fold when designing your email marketing messages. In newspapers, anything above the page folds features a lot more prominently than material lower on the page. If someone has to scroll down to see your call to action element, chances are pretty good they will not ever see it, much less click it.

TIP! Set up some expectations for your recipients when they sign up for your email campaign. Once they sign up, they should receive an immediate confirmation email that highlights what they can receive from signing up.

Make sure your messages come from a corporate point of view. Do not say your messages are friendly reminders from a specific individual, unless of course, your readers automatically know that person, and that they are associated with your company. Readers are anticipating messages from your company, so fulfill that expectation for trust.

What worked for you before might not work for you the next time around. That is why it is vital to always look into new email marketing strategies, and constantly seek new advice. Learn from others in your business niche, and always try out new methods to add to your arsenal of what works for your business.

Make responding promptly to emails your top priority. If a potential customer reaches out to you through email, you ought to do everything you can to reply to them within one day. Waiting longer may cost you the customer, and they may mention the lack of response to others.

Run Tests with your Email Marketing Campaign

TIP! Use the right font for the right message. Your font should be indicative of your style and email message, and not convey a message that you don't wish to send.

You should test your email marketing template in all the popular email providers, like Google and Yahoo. Make certain that the content is easy to open and read in them before you send out your messages. This helps to ensure that recipients can access your content, even if they use a different provider than you.

Get creative with your email marketing designs to find out what works best. Send out a few emails with content and links that differ in their fonts and text color. Play around with image positioning, including buttons and logos. After you've sent the emails, find out which ones had the best click-thru rates. Stick with those for the time being, but change it up on occasion to see if you can find a method that works even better. More click-thru rates equate to more sales.

Be Consistent with your Email Marketing

One tip to enhance your email marketing campaign is to send out regular updates to your customer base, even if not much is happening in your business. These regular updates can be short and sweet. They remind your customers that you are staying busy and want to keep in contact with them.

TIP! Use plain text and hyperlinks in your email messages, and save the images and Flash animation for your web page. Many email services now filter out images and animations in the name of consumer safety, meaning that your lists may not even see your carefully-crafted images.

You should send your emails as plain text every once in a while instead of always sending them in HTML format. This gives things a more personal touch and helps the subscriber feel that you are trying to connect. Do not use it too much though because then you may be seen as being too unprofessional.

Offer incentives. People might be hesitant to give their consent to receive e-mails. Try offering some sort of incentive as a bonus for receiving e-mails from you. Offer coupons or exclusive promo codes. Make sure that there is content in these e-mails that they will find both worthwhile and useful. These tips help you that your subscribers are waiting to read your next message in your email marketing.

Email marketing can be a great opportunity to reach your clients and customers. If you implement the tips that this article has given you, you are likely to notice that your target market is more satisfied. Use the tips here to create a solid email marketing plan that ultimately raises your profits.

    • Bruno,

If I would just follow your simple advice, I know it could make a huge difference in the responsiveness of my lists. One problem is that there is so much to do online – article writing, blog posting, newsletters, commenting on other’s blogs, writing books, setting up webinars. The list goes on and one. But I know the value of a good autoresponder system and responsive, informative regular communication. Thanks for all your tips.
