Gravatar is a great tool you can use when you comment on other people's blogs.

When you are a blogger then it’s important that you get backlinks to your blog. so that people also can find you on Google. One way to create backlinks is to comment on other people's blog posts. Especially when you comment on high-authority blogs which can give you great links back to your site.

Besides a meaningful comment, you should use a Gravatar with a nice picture of yourself. You maybe have seen pictures like the one below with only a symbol. When you comment on authority blogs, it’s often happening that your comment does not get approved because you do not use a good avatar with a nice picture.

The Steps To Create Your Gravatar

Gravatar is a globally recognized Avatar tool that is free of charge and you can easily upload a nice picture and connect it to your email address for comments.

Now when you go to the homepage of Gravatar you have to sign in with your account or you can create one.

Gravatar Login Page

Now when you don't have already an account and you create for the first time an account you have to create first a account. Just click on the “Need an account” link. Then you come to the registration site:

Sign up to wordpress

When you created a new account then you get a confirmation email where you have to click the link in your email.

Thereafter you can sign in to Gravatar.

A tip I can give you is to use an email address with the domain of your blog. Google will recognize it and it will give you more credibility. An email address like this:

When you are in your Gravatar account, you can choose from where you get your picture to upload. In this case, I choose to select from my computer.

Select an Image

Then I choose to browse and select the picture from my computer and select next.

Select a file for Gravatar

Now you can resize your picture when you want by clicking on one of the dots in the corner or on the border of the image. When you like the size of it you can click crop and finish.

The next step is to select the rating of your picture. As a blogger, you definitely choose G on the left side. Click on it and your Gravatar is selected. When you have different email addresses as I have, you can also choose a different picture for each Gravatar.

Choose a rating

Now your Gravatar is ready to use

Gravatar is created

Ho To Use Your Gravatar for commenting

Now after creating your Gravatar you can now easily comment on different blogs and your image will show up in the comments. As in the picture below you have to fill in your name, email address, and your homepage to comment. It’s important that you use the email that you use for your Gravatar. Otherwise, the picture will not show up.

comment on a blog

Below is now a picture where you see how it looks when your comment is approved. It makes a much better impression and also another benefit is when other bloggers see a nice picture of you than there is also a great chance that they will visit your site and also leave a comment on your site and you will get more social credibility.

What a awesome thing to showcase Bruno. Every Blogger should think about doing this. To often I see a gravatar of an image that is not a picture and you wonder; who in the heck is that person, are they real?
I hadn’t thought about adding an email address to my blog address. I’ll have consider doing that. 🙂
